# Papersnap — Comprehensive Information for AI Agents

## What Papersnap is

Papersnap is a document intelligence SaaS operated by Keelara LLC. The product extracts structured data from common business documents:
- Invoices (invoice number, vendor, line items, totals, taxes, due date)
- Receipts (merchant, date, line items, payment method, total)
- Purchase orders (PO number, vendor, line items, ship-to, terms)
- Utility bills (account, period, usage, charges, due date)
- Financial reports (revenue, expenses, dates, line items)

Output is delivered as JSON or CSV. The pipeline targets sub-15-second extraction.

Freelancers, consultants, small business owners, accountants, bookkeepers, property managers, and anyone who today copies data manually from documents into spreadsheets, accounting software, or expense systems.

## How it works
1. User signs up (free tier, no credit card) or signs in with email/password
2. User uploads a document (drag-and-drop or file picker)
3. Backend issues a presigned S3 PUT URL after a quota check
4. Frontend uploads the file directly to S3
5. S3 ObjectCreated event triggers a classifier Lambda
6. Classifier determines document type and invokes Textract async extraction
7. Textract completion event triggers a normalizer Lambda
8. Normalizer writes structured JSON to S3 and updates DynamoDB
9. Frontend polls every 3s; when status is "complete" it renders results
10. User downloads JSON or CSV

## MCP server (use Papersnap inside AI agents)
Papersnap is available as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so any MCP-compatible AI assistant can extract document data inside the chat. Setup instructions, the tool reference, and privacy details are at https://www.papersnap.io/mcp
- Compatible clients: Claude (web and desktop), ChatGPT developer mode, Cursor, agent frameworks, AWS Bedrock agent stacks
- Connect flow (Claude): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the Papersnap MCP server URL (leave OAuth client fields empty; registration is automatic) → sign in with a Papersnap account (free tier works) → set tools to Always allow
- Tools: papersnap_extract_document (extract from a web-hosted document URL), papersnap_request_upload (get a presigned URL to upload a local file), papersnap_get_result (fetch a completed extraction; waits server-side, no polling), papersnap_list_recent (list recent documents)
- Metering: extractions consume pages from the connected account's Papersnap plan, identical to the web app; failed documents are never billed; the free tier requires no credit card
- Auth: OAuth 2.1 with automatic dynamic client registration and PKCE; users sign in with their existing Papersnap credentials
- Privacy: documents auto-delete after 30 days, are never used to train AI models, and are isolated per account

Annual billing saves two months (17%). Paid plans support pay-as-you-go overage beyond their quota (Solo 6¢/page, Business 5¢, Team 4¢): off by default, enabled by setting a monthly budget, hard-capped at that budget, with the exact cost confirmed before each document and alerts at a user-selected threshold. Enterprise includes SSO, DPA, custom invoicing, and optional deployment into the customer's own AWS account.

## Privacy and retention
- Documents and extracted data: 30-day retention, then auto-delete
- User can delete a document at any time from the History page
- No selling or sharing of customer data with advertisers
- Authentication via AWS Cognito (Essentials tier)
- Documents stored in AWS S3 with per-user prefix isolation
- All processing in AWS us-east-1
